How do I apply?
The first step is to complete the initial application. Fill out the application completely and to
the best of your knowledge. Your application will be reviewed and we will contact you by
email. If you are selected to continue the donor process, you will be asked to complete an
online medical questionnaire.
Why do I have to live near one of your facilities in order to become a donor?
Each donor is required to produce a minimum of one specimen per week on site for a
minimum of 6 months; therefore you must live or work near one of our facilities.
Why do you require a 6 month commitment?
We ask for a 6 month commitment so that we have enough specimens to compensate for the
expense of the medical testing involved. The majority of our donors choose to and are allowed
to continue donating past the 6 month point.
How long will it take for me to hear back after I apply?
All applicants will receive an email either informing him he was not accepted, or providing him
with additional information to continue the application process.
We review applications on a regular basis. Sometimes we receive a large quantity of
applicants at one time, which delays our response time. If you have not heard from us in a
week, please email us. See the page for your specific site for an email address.
Is the program confidential?
All donor information is completely confidential. Donor files are numerically coded to assure
confidentiality of information and access to the files is restricted. Your identity will not be
revealed to any recipient nor shall the identity of any recipient be disclosed to you.
What do the medical tests involve?
You will be required to have a physical exam, and have your blood drawn. Cultures are also
performed directly on the semen samples. The genetic and infectious disease testing is very
extensive and implements the most advanced technology available today.
How am I paid for donations?
Donors are compensated for their time and effort. The average donor is compensated $100
per acceptable ejaculate, although many are compensated more. Each donor's commitment to the program thru healthy life style and abstinence has a direct impact on his individual compensation.
Compensation is provided only after a donor is fully accepted into the program, after the
completion of rigorous medical testing.
Applicants who are not accepted into the program are not compensated.
Donors are compensated under 1099 status. Donors are responsible for filing appropriate
state, local and federal taxes forms.
How much time does this involve?
Once you have completed the screening process you must donate at least once a week for 6
months. We will take blood samples on a regular basis. Also, routine physicals are required.
Donors are given advance notice so that they can schedule their time accordingly.
Some sites use appointments for their donors, some sites have walk-in hours. Please see the
information posted for each specific site.
How many times a week can I donate?
You will generally need a minimum of 72 hours of sexual abstinence in order to pass our
standards for processing. Therefore, the number of donations per week is based on the
donor's lifestyle choices.
How do I produce a specimen?
Specimens are produced by self-masturbation in private collection rooms. Literature is
provided at your option.
What are the specimens used for?
The specimens are used by infertility patients to fulfill their dreams of having children.
What are the legalities of sperm donation?
You assume no responsibility or liability for any child conceived by your donations. Likewise,
you will have no rights to any child conceived by your donations.
Why do people become donors?
For most donors it is a combination of the knowledge that you are helping an infertile couple
to have a family and the financial compensation that we provide for your time and effort.
How long will it take to get into the program?
The screening process can take up to 3 months.
Compensation is provided only after a donor is fully accepted into the program, after the
completion of rigorous medical testing.
Applicants who are not accepted into the program are not compensated.
During the application process, applicants should expect to spend 1 or more hours filling out
the long application, 1 hour doing an in person interview, and about another hour on other,
smaller tasks.
I was not accepted into the program, does that mean I can't have children?
Probably not!
In order to provide the best quality product to our customers, we need men who produce unusually high quality sperm. Men who fall into the 'normal' range do not make it into our
program, but can (and do!) produce healthy, happy children.
When we perform our analysis, if we see anything that might impact an applicant's ability to
conceive children, we immediately notify him and refer him to a specialist.
